I can do that one-handed

I'm walking down the stairs yesterday at 6:00 am in a sleepy haze with my daughter in one arm so that she won't wake the whole house with her insistent braying (she's really pissy when she's hungry) and proceed to fill a bottle with filtered water, scoop and level off formula, heat, screw nipple on bottle and pop lid off, transfer Elizabeth into a lying down position, lie down on the couch and cover us both with a blanket and start feeding her... all one-handed so I can keep Elizabeth in my arms and QUIET. A little later that day I realize that before I forget, I need to write down the many things I can and have done one-handed since becoming a mother.

You see, now that I stay at home, I no longer have a resume to update with skills like "structured and launched mortgage banking department of local broker/banker". No, now I have a mom resume full of skills necessary to make it through a 16-18 hour day, 6 days a week (I have one sleep in day on the weekends as Mike and I each give each other a "sleep in" day)and some how keep my self sane, my kids safe and fed and our house clean.

Below is what, to date, I've managed to do with a baby either in my arms or better yet, held across my chest so he/she could nurse at the same time:

Chop fruits and vegetables
Cook a meal
Go to the bathroom (I know, not sanitary, but Elizabeth used to nurse for over an hour sometimes and getting her to unlatch and relatch was so painful, I'd rather just take her with me)
Undress William, help him go potty and re-dress him
Lift William into the car and buckle him in his carseat
Lift William out of the car
Wipe off our dogs' paws while letting them into the house
Walked across the park and helped William off a structure (this was done while Elizabeth was nursing under a shield which prompted another mom to say, "are you actually nursing one child while playing with another at the park? I haven't managed that one yet!)
Walked up our stairs carrying both a child and a ridiculous number of toys with the free hand
Make pancakes from scratch (including measuring out all the ingredients) while talking on the phone and holding the child
Washed dishes
Did laundry (including transfering clothes from washer to dryer and folding the dry ones)
Did an art project with William
Played Star Wars Clone Wars with William (both with action figures and running around with blasters pretending to BE clone troopers... poor Elizabeth, she's put up with a lot)
Dug in the sand at the park and built a sand castle
Bathe and dress William, read him a book and tuck him into bed (Mike was out of town and Elizabeth was very little)
Peel potatoes (this one was tricky... probably won't try that again, but again, Mike was out of town)

Of course, the above is probably why my right shoulder now sits higher than my left and the last time I went in for a massage the guy said, "wow, you need longer than an hour, motherhood is messing you UP!"

Oh well, I'll take the off-balance shoulders, sore body and ever-growing list of one-handed skills... after all, I've also received some of the best kisses and hugs from both my kiddos, all while holding the other in my arms.
